【 摘 要 】

Technology usage has beenidentified as a major driver of increasedproductivity, waste management andeconomic efficiency. However, thereseems to be some barriers to technologyusage among rural women cassavaprocessors Nigeria. This study thereforeanalysed the characteristics andconstraints to technology usage amongrural women processors in Ifelodun localgovernment area of Kwara State, Nigeria.A two-stage sampling technique was usedto randomly select 120 respondents fromsix districts, namely Igbaja, Idofin, OkeOde, Omupo, Ora and Share. Primarydata were used for the study and the datawere collected by means of an interviewschedule. Descriptive statistical tools, such as precision counts, frequencies andpercentages, were used in analysing thedata, while Pearson Product MomentCorrelation (PPMC) analysis was used totest the hypothesis. The findings revealedthe level of usage of cassava processingamong rural women in the study area ismoderately high. Major constraints to theadoption of cassava processingtechnologies includes: high cost ofmachines and maintenance, low levelawareness and training, as well asinadequate finance. PPMC analysisshowed that educational level and cassavaprocessing experience was significantlyrelated to the usage of improved cassavaprocessing technologies in the study areawith p≤ 0.05. Based on findings, trainingand effective monitoring by relevantstakeholders, adequate financing, sensitization and enlightenmentcampaigns will further boost cassavaprocessors knowledge and attitudetowards cassava processing technologiesand automatically increase usage by therespondents.
