【 摘 要 】
Periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis, and cervical adenitis (PFAPA) syndrome is characterized by recurrent episodes of feverof unexplained origin, pharyngitis, oral aphthous ulcers, and cervicallymphadenopathy.1 It was first described in 1987 and was known as theMarshall’s syndrome until the abbreviation PFAPA was introduced in1989.2 Generally, the onset is before the age of five years and resolvesspontaneously before the adult age3 with febrile episodes lasting forfour to five days and recurring every three to six weeks.4 Patientswith PFAPA are usually healthy children with normal developmental milestones and growth. The lack of evidence of infection and theasymptomatic intervals between the flare-ups are characteristics ofthis syndrome.
