【 摘 要 】
The idea of greening the chemical industry as a solution topollution prevention has gained much popularity over the pastfew decades. The development of alternative green and sustainableprocesses has significantly contributed to reducingrisks and hazards associated with the practice of chemistry.In this context, the Green Chemistry Challenge Awards, anannual award instituted by the US Environmental and ProtectionAgency (US EPA) along with the American ChemicalSociety Green Chemistry Institute, has, over the years, encouragedand recognized chemical technologies that incorporatethe various principles of green chemistry. The award hassuccessfully recognized novel solutions to real-world environmentalproblems and thereby has significantly contributed togreener approaches to the design, manufacture and use ofchemicals.
