【 摘 要 】

Since decades, it has become a challenging task to the scientist to enhance the solubility of poorlywater-soluble drugs to improve their bioavailability which are given in oral route, by enhancing the dissolutionrate which could be the rate-limiting step in the process of absorption of drug from a solid dosage form ofinsoluble or poorly water-soluble drugs. Based on research, the number of new drug entities which are poorlywater-soluble in nature has adequately increased. Currently, 88-90% of new drug candidates which are highlypotent are poorly water-soluble. The review article focuses on one of simple, novel technique i.e. solid dispersionto enhance the solubility of poorly water-soluble drugs. The review mainly portrays advantages, disadvantages,various techniques available and applications.
