【 摘 要 】
Antimicrobial stewardship programmes have been playingan important role in patient care and hospital policies. Theseprogrammes are now recognised as formal strategies for curbingthe upward trend in antibiotic resistance and for improvingthe appropriate antimicrobial and antifungal use. The role ofsuch programs in the era of antimicrobial resistance presentsseveral unique challenges and opportunities, most notably inthe diagnostic and therapeutic setting. Controversies remainregarding the most effective interventions and the appropriatedesign to evaluate their impact. In this review, based on roundsof discussion, we explain the most important challengesfaced by antibiotic stewardship and antifungal stewardshipprogrammes. We also try to suggest areas for further research.
