Abion, 478 P.3d 270 (Haw. 2020) the Supreme Court of Hawaii considered whether the lower courts erred in prohibiting expert testimony regarding settled insanity as part of a criminal responsibility defense. The court ruled that the defendant had the right to present a complete defense, and the expert’s testimony should have been permitted.
