Scientific dissemination in Argentina (1945-1960): discursive and linguistic considerations

【 摘 要 】

This article explores the sociolinguistic representations and linguistic ideologies (Arnoux and Del Valle 2010) about discourse in scientific lectures and on Spanish as the language of science, which took place in the Ciencia e InvestigaciónArgentine journal during its first stage of publication (1945-1960). Although the magazine confirms the importance of dissemination practices, the analysis  reveals how the rhetorical and oratory skills become minimized in scientific activity or associated to an ornamental feature, whereas considerations on Spanish anchor in their restrictions to researchpractices. Despite the several difficulties that determined scientific communication in the country (and in the region) during these years, some obstacles seem to be ignored due to the conception of a “scientific language or tongue” able to transcend different languages and disciplines.
