【 摘 要 】

Kharkiv region possesses all opportunities for development of environmental, sports, business, and especially, educational tourism. They can be realized only under the conditions of rational use of the resources, taking into consideration clearly determined priorities, exposing the strong and weak sides of tourism.Assessment of the condition of the tourist field allowed to determine possibilities and restrictions of its development, advantages and drawbacks of the current condition.The main problem of tourism underdevelopment in Kharkiv region is absence of the organizational system of the events initiated both by the state and local authorities. The necessary immediate precondition of the Kharkiv region development is legislation, the system of benefits, flexible taxation, financial support, activity dealing with creation of the infrastructure according to the European standards.Statistics data witness that historical – cultural educational tourism is the most developed in Kharkiv. It is based on great interest to historical monuments on the territory of the city; business tourism is connected with the functioning of administrative and business management centres on the territory of the city, developed network of roads and railways, availability of an international airport, shopping centres, and entertainment mainly for the citizens of Kharkiv region. According to the expert assessments, the tendency to the development of the educational tourism in Kharkiv region is going to gain its pace in distant perspective, and this is a good ground to consider the educational tourism the essential tourist sector of Kharkiv.To increase the competitiveness of tourism in the Kharkiv region, it is necessary to work out an appropriate concept and program concerning the development of the tourist industry which is going to provide the city with the tax revenues to the budget, improve the standard and quality of living of its citizens, save historical – cultural heritage to the future generations.
