【 摘 要 】

Improvement of services in the primary health care raises in front of the pharmacists necessity of the change of their traditional role and directs them towards more active involvement in pharmacotherapeutic treatment of the patients. This is possible to achieve only in close cooperation with other health professionals. This survey investigates pharmacists' attitude toward obstacles and practical problems in the implementation of prescribed therapy corrections as routine service in Serbian health care system. The survey included pharmacists involved in practice on the primary level of health care, i.e. those employed in community pharmacies in the city of Kragujevac. The answers regarding the advantages, obstacles, practical problems and the future of implementation of this service and the influence of the demographic characteristics of the examinees have been analyzed. The pharmacists recognized as major obstacles for expansion of their role the following: inadequate communication with the doctors who prescribe therapy and lack of time, space and informatic support. Also, they understood the necessity of the following changes in Serbian health system: introduction of electronic medical records and informatic networking of health institutions, pharmacies and the Republic Institute for Health Insurance. In order to expand their services to active revision of the prescribed therapy, the pharmacists in community pharmacies need improvement of their cooperation with prescribers. Future studies designed in a similar way, which would involve prescribers, too, would be helpful for improvement of this cooperation.
