【 摘 要 】

Firstly, this article points out the importance of culturally pertinent education in the Latin American context, as well as the positive political strategies concerned with the development of indigenous communities in search of social and educational equality that has been historically lacking by many people in the American continent. Likewise, this work analyses the experience obtained from support projects for indigenous people within the International Program “Pathways to Higher Education”, supported by the Ford Foundation. In this case, the object of study is the Academic Support Center for Indigenous Students (Unidad de Apoyo Académico para Estudiantes Indígenas) located at the Universidad de Quintana Roo, and its role in implementing and creating an atmosphere that helps to build an intercultural environment.
