【 摘 要 】

A new method is developed to simulate the fully coupled motioninvolving an ellipsoidal particle and the ambient fluid.This method essentially reduces a two-phase flow problem into asingle-phase fluid flow problem. The momentum exchange at theinterface between the particle and the fluid is computed in aspectral element method. To validate this method and demonstratethe accuracy of the results, theoretical data as well as resultsfrom the direct numerical simulations (DNS) via a spectral elementmethod are obtained to provide reference and comparison.
