【 摘 要 】

History, especially contemporary history, can be written by drawing on the usual institutional sources, and deploying the classical interpretative paradigms focussed institutions and the economy. But history can also be written with an emphasis on its social dimensions, by delving into the inexhaustible mine of testimones left by ordinary people. Such sources allow events to be viewed "from below". Yet despite the importance of this second approach, and despite the increasing solidity of its methodological foundations, it has still to attain complete historiographical legitimacy.
