【 摘 要 】
Background: neovascular glaucoma is one of the most devastating forms of glaucoma, characterized by ischemia and is related to proangiogenic factors.
Objective: to characterize of epidemiological and clinical variables of neovascular glaucoma in patients attended to at the Ophthalmological Center of the “Dr. Ernesto Guevara de la Serna” General Teaching Hospital of Las Tunas, from November 1, 2014 to November 30, 2016.
Methods: a descriptive, longitudinal and retrospective study was conducted in patients with a presumptive diagnosis of neovascular glaucoma, who were referred to the aforementioned institution and during the period herein declared. The sample was made up of 72 patients (108 eyes) with a clinical diagnosis of neovascular glaucoma. The analyzed variables were age, sex, ophthalmological history, visual acuity, intraocular pressure and treatments used.
Results: there was a prevalence of the 60 to 69 age group and of the male sex. The latter had a 2:1 ratio regarding females. Diabetic retinopathy was the most frequent ocular pathological history in 58,3 % of the cases, followed by hypertensive retinopathy, 54,2 %. Monocular visual loss was present in 15 left eyes with nil vision, followed by 14 right eyes with perception vision to light; 27 left eyes presented a corneal thickness of 550 microns with a pressure higher than 21 mmHg. Cyclocryoablation treatment prevailed in eyes with medium opacity, followed by cyclophotocoagulation in eyes without medium opacity.
Conclusions: the patients with a diagnosis of neovascular glaucoma included in the study were characterized.【 授权许可】
