(Series Information) European Papers - A Journal on Law and Integration, 2016 1(2), 759-761 | European Forum Highlight of 29 August 2016 | (Abstract) The Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on combatting terrorism and replacing Council Framework Decision 2002/475/JHA updates the existing legislative framework on combatting terrorism to the challenges posed by the foreign terrorist fighters. In this regard, two main areas are addressed: the definition of new forms of terrorism and the protection of the rights of victims of terrorism. On balance, the new proposed Directive addressed both matters satisfactorily.
