【 摘 要 】

The Bulgarian press from its appearance in 1842 to September 9, 1944 (the cardinal change of power in Bulgaria) had about 10 270 newspapers and magazines. More than 500 of them were published in foreign languages in Bulgaria or were issued by Bulgarians abroad. The bulk of them were Bulgarian newspapers and magazines in French—over one hundred. In the same period, most of the press in foreign languages in Bulgaria was in Russian—more than one hundred editions, due mainly to the wave of emigration through Bulgaria after the revolution of October 1917.In the first half of the 20th century, periodicals in 16 foreign languages were published in Bulgaria: Albanian, English, Armenian, Greek, Esperanto, Ido (form of Esperanto), Italian, Latino, Latin, German, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, French, Ukrainian. In the same period twelve periodicals in Bulgarian were issued in France. They are typologized primarily on a theme basis.
