【 摘 要 】

Switzerland lies between two academic traditions, the Francophone world and the German-speaking world, and it follows that the national research in the social sciences is fragmented. On the other hand, it is a country whose identity is largely constructed in opposition to the city, so that urban research is developed recently. Finally, it should be noted that in Switzerland, urban research is often very close to the application: this is probably the characteristic of small countries. Urban sociology in Switzerland will be discussed successively in two ways. The first is to tell his story, with a particular emphasis on the person of Michel Bassand which is in many ways a pioneer thinker. The second part is devoted to current debates on urban research in Switzerland. These two inputs provide a description of the specificities, paradoxes and challenges of urban sociology in Switzerland.
