【 摘 要 】

This article challenges the “urban art” category in the light of new identifications to the city of Nairobi, for which we want to highlight the social and spatial contours. Based on a material geography of culture, the method focuses on the actors of artistic productions and confronts their circulations to their discourses and imaginaries. Looking at an art festival (Kinanda) and an art centre (The Nest) based in Nairobi and that both claim the urban identity, this study shows the spatialities of “urban art” is neither entirely or exclusively that of the urban but rather informs the cosmopolitics of an urban trajectory.
