«Nyaneka-Nkhumbi»: uma carapuça que não serve aos Handa, nem aos Nyaneka, nem aos Nkhumbi

【 摘 要 】

Taking as a starting point the name «Nyaneka-Nkhumbi», used to designate a specific ethno-linguistic group in Southern Angola, this article discusses aspects linked to ethnic identity. The article focuses on the Handa ethnic group. Based on an analysis of the local social dynamics, the article not only redeems Handa identity, but demonstrates the discrepancy between the label «Nyaneka-Nkhumbi» and the identity of the social actors themselves, who are included in it. The article supplies comparative data concerning the interpretations of identity by the individuals themselves (according to whether they are rural or urban dwelling). It analyses the individual/ethnic identity relationship, as well as social practices which influence the dynamics of construction of the identities.
