【 摘 要 】

Se evaluaron 62 pacientes con el diagnóstico de degeneración macular relativa a la edad, desde el mes de septiembre del año 2000 hasta el mes de agosto del año 2001. A todos se les realizó anamnesis, donde se definieron metas, y examen oftalmológico completo que incluyó: exploración de la agudeza visual a 3 m y a 25 cm con optotipos para baja visión, estudio del campo visual central y periférico, test de sensibilidad al contraste, evaluación de la visión de colores, interconsulta con el servicio de retina y además, se les realizó biomicroscopia, examen de los medios y examen del fondo de ojo. Se observó que el 100 % de los pacientes presentaban más de 60 años de edad. La agudeza visual promedio se encontró entre 0,1 y 0,3, todos presentaban alteraciones en el campo visual central y en la sensibilidad al contraste; la ayuda óptica indicada fue el microscopio y la iluminación como ayuda no óptica fue solicitada por todos los pacientes
62 patients with the diagnosis of macular degeneration relative to age were evaluated from September, 2000, to August, 2001. According to anamnesis, goals were defined and a complete ophthalmological examination was made, including exploration of the visual acuity at 3 m and 25 cm with optotypes for low vision, study of the central and peripheral field of vision, test of sensitivity to the contrast, evaluation of the vision of colors, interconsultation with the retina service, biomicroscopy, examination of the media and of the fundus of the eye. It was observed that 100 % of the patients were over 60. Average visual acuity was between 0.1 and 0.3. All of them presented alterations in the central field of vision and in the sensitivity to contrast. The optical assistance indicated was the microscope, whereas all the patients required lighting as a non-optical assistance
