【 摘 要 】

This article presents observations about the discourse genres in the Portuguese language textbook. Guided by the theoretical conjectures of Applied Linguistics, we aim to present the results of a investigation made about how the discourse genres are approached during the teaching learning process related to the reading, especially, in the book Linguagem Nova5 srie (FARACOMOURA, 2004). The results show there is a significant and appropriated variety with the proposals of the PCNs being presented. However, the qualitative aspect of the proposed work to the genres breaks the variety.
