【 摘 要 】

The UN was createdin 1945 to care for humùan right after the numerous transgressions and crime against humanity. The UN Commission on Human Rightswas set up to preserve internationalpeace. It proved inefficient because it was politcisedanddominated by the states who violated human rights. It was replaced by the UN Human Rights Council in 2005, a subsidiary body of the UN Economic and Social Council, and aimed at consolidatinghuman rights and the fundamental freedoms in the world, without discrimination.Does the Council differ from the Commission inb terms of creation, structure, and competency? Will it succeedwhere the Commission failed in promoting the human rights?These are the questions this article will attempt to answer.
