【 摘 要 】

This paper presents the project “Encontrar o Outro nos livros” (“Find the Other in books”), implemented in the Elementary School D. Luís de Loureiro throughout the school years of 2012-2013. In addition to characterizing the gypsy community in Viseu, we also describe the project and the activities involved. Finally, we analyze the representations of gypsies in young adult fiction books and we reflect on the role of literature in promoting intercultural education.
