【 摘 要 】

This article shows the historiographical background on rites of sociability of urban elites in France during XIXth century, and it tries to establish new ways for researching about an informal sociability (but extremously ritualized), around walking, leisure, and hospitality, and also about an organized sociability, associations in "savantes" societies, masonic lodges, clubs, etc.
