The article examines the Soviet reception of the American writer and political activistThe article examines the Soviet reception of the American writer and political activistWaldo Frank, explores the evolution of his views on the events that took place in SovietRussia in 1920–40s, provides a systematization of the main publications dedicated tothe author that can be found in the periodicals of the time. Archival materials help to reconstructSoviet publishing policy towards Waldo Frank and recreate the writer’s imageformed by the Soviet press. The most efficient period of his cooperation with the USSRfalls on the turn of the decade 1920/1930; after 1936 his byline vanishes from the pagesof the Soviet periodicals.
