【 摘 要 】

Through an essay about the Spanish city of Granada, by N. Scott Momaday, "Granada : a Vision of the Unforeseen," published in The Man Made of Words, and an essay by H.D. Thoreau, "The Dispersion of Seeds" published in Faith in a Seed, this article would like to show that the meaning of man’s relationship with the world does not dwell on frontiers but on convergences and confluences and on the sharing of the earth. Seeds may be carried by the wind, by birds and other animals, by men who thus transform the world’s landscapes. Momaday’s text suggests both temporal and spatial confluences and a meeting between Mediterranean and Atlantic cultures. He also suggests parallels between invasions or occupations of territories in the history of the world. A Mediterranean place-name becomes the opportunity of showing confluences of nature and history between the Old and New Worlds.
