【 摘 要 】
This paper aims to analyze the Greek tragedy Orestes, written by Euripides and acted for the first time at the Urban Dionysias in 408 B.C. The play’s plot is about the redemption of the Clitemnestra’s murdering, killed by her son Orestes with help from Electra and Pylades. In the first part of this study, the Greek tragedy and its possibilities for interpretations in the 21stcentury are analyzed. Further, the protagonist is more deeply analyzed by observing his sickness and his character constitution. This work intends to discuss the wide possibilities to analyze ancient masterpieces, avoiding anachronisms or misleading interpretations that are unnecessary to understand dramatic works.
