【 摘 要 】

Somedata are provided on the prevalence of smoking in the world, in Cubaand in the province as well as its consequences for health. We describethe direct link between smoking and some chronic diseases such as lungcancer and ischemic heart disease. Given that the Cuban government hasexpressed its political and legal will, gradually oriented to theeradication of this addiction, we urge the community to comply withlegislations related to smoking control.
