【 摘 要 】
This paper aims to understand the genesis ofUruguaiana/RS(Brazil)andPaso de Los Libres (Argentina), as well as to analyze the social and economic dynamics of the cities currently. It was focused on the processes of colonization and formation of the cities,mainly along theXIXcentury,the beginning of economic activities as livestock, commerce, and rice cultivation, and their unfolding over time. Through the socio-spatial formation category, it is sought to understand the dynamics of this urban agglomeration of the frontier. It was found that the tertiary sector has great importance about job creation, although its main highlight is the transport services linked to the customs station. Even the exchange rate is a key element in determining trading flows between the two cities, trading and services drive the dynamics towards jobs creating.Adding livestock,they maintain the socio-spatial formation of this border city agglomeration.
