We discuss the problem of the development of social intelligence of teachers and students of secondary special educational institutions as an essential capability for effective interpersonal interaction. The problem of experts professional development success is closely linked to the development of general intelligence. The author considers the prospects for the formation and development of social intelligence as a structural component of the profession, as a complex formation that defines the capacity for effective human communication and understanding of themselves and others, the success of social adaptation, understanding and predicting the results of their own behavior and the behavior of interaction partners. We examine the issues of social intelligence, considered by the leading foreign researchers since the 1920s. In particular, we present different interpretations of social intelligence: from the particular ability to judge people correctly, to predict their behavior and provide adequate adaptation to interpersonal interactions (G. Allport) to global capacity, arising on the basis of complex of intellectual, personal, communicative and behavioral traits, including level of energy features of self-regulating processes (V.N. Kunitsyn ). We focus on questions about the dynamics of social intelligence, which may alter as a result of special training program aimed at developing social intelligence of college students.
