【 摘 要 】

The purpose of the study was to examine the relationship between productivity and motivation of the scientific activity. Previous studies have indicated that this relationship is ambiguous and unstable.

Methodology. Data for this study were collected by the sample of 336 subjects (university professors and employees of the Research Institute). The information was gathered by testing (the author Motivation scientific activity inventory), questionnaire and interviewing.

The results of the study show: the teaching component in the structure of scientific activity changes the character of the relationship between the motivation and productivity. The motivational subsystems of university professors improve quantitative productivity. The motivational subsystems of employees of the Research Institute improve both quantitative and qualitative productivity of scientific activity. The study proved: the productivity is a metafunctional attribute of the system of motivation of the scientific activity.

Practical implications – technical psychology, management, organization of the work of research teams.
