Impact of Foreign Direct Investment on Revenue Generation in Nigeria: Mediating on the Role of Company Tax

【 摘 要 】

Thisstudyexaminedforeigndirectinvestmentanditsimpactonrevenuegenerationin Nigeria,withemphasesontheroleofcompanyincometaxasmediatingfactor.ThisStudyis predicatedontheDoctrineofUnbalancedGrowthTheory,Solow-SwangrowththeoryandRomer GrowthModel.Secondarydatasource wasexploredinpresentingthefactsofthesituation.The secondarydatawereobtainedfromrelevantliteratures,CentralBankofNigeriaStatisticalBulletin andNationalBureauofStatisticspublicationsamongother.Inanattempttodothis,ordinaryleast square regression technique was employed in which T-test, R-Square, Standard Error Test and Durbin WatsontestADF/PPunitrootandco-integrationtestwereusedinthedataanalysis,information concerningforeigndirectinvestment,companyincometax,petroleumprofittaxandcorporatetax from1990-2020wereextracted.TheempiricalevidenceshowsthatFDIhaspositiveimpacton revenuegenerationinNigeria.Theresultofthefindingrevealedconsistencepresentofco –integrationamongthevariableswhichisaclearindicationthatforeigndirectinvestmenthasa significantandpositiverelationshipwithrevenuegenerationwithstrongemphasizeoncompany incometaxasmediatingfactor.Inconclusion,foreigndirectinvestmentincreaserevenuegeneration whichthroughcompanyincometaxgeneratedtoboosteconomicgrowthinNigeria.Therefore,in otherboostgovernmentrevenuegenerationwhichwillpromotegrowthanddevelopmentinthe economy, government should give priority or paymoreattention to policies that could promote FDI inflowintothecountryandusethisavenuetogeneratemoretaxtoenhanceinfrastructural development.
