【 摘 要 】

Theobjectiveofthepresentstudyistoexplorepatientsafetysituationsinfourlarge-sized hospitalsinSantaCatarina.Thesamplewascomposedofpatientsafetycoordinatorsandprofessionalsfrom themultidisciplinaryteam.AquestionnairedevelopedbasedontheformproposedbytheWorldHealth Organization was used as a data collection instrument for evaluation of the patient safety situation. The main resultspointtotheneedforpromotingasafetycultureinhealthinstitutions,including:structuralaspectsof communicationandcontinuingeducation;improvementsinworkprocesseswithafocusondevelopmentof protocolsandothermanagementinstruments;notificationofandresearchintoadverseevents;evaluationof indicators; strengthening of partnerships; and studies in the area. In conclusion, there are safety actions under development and a movement for the implementation of the National Patient Safety Program in the state of Santa Catarina.
