【 摘 要 】

Students are potential professionals with significant roles in the future and that's why the aim of this paper is to estimate the level of physical activity, and to identify certain relevant indicators, the unhealthy habits (smoking, alcohol, sedentary lifestyle) among the students of the State University of Novi Pazar. The study was conducted among first-year and first-year students of the State University in Novi Pazar, in May 2013. As the survey instrument it was used an anonymous questionnaire, specifically designed for this study. Survey responses are directly administered at a specially prepared database. For statistical analysis we used the methods of descriptive statistics, Chi-square test at the significance level of p<0.05. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS package for Windows, version18.0. Statistical analysis showed that there were significant differences in proportion of students who engaged in sports and recreational activities between first-year and fourth-year students (Chi-Square 5.882, p <0.05). The proportion of first-year students who exercise 2-3 times per week is significantly lower than the proportion of fourth-year students (Chi-Square 6.332, p <0.05). There is no statistically significant difference in proportion of students who consume alcohol between first-year and fourth-year students (Chi-Square 0.231; p>0.05). There is a significant percent of nonsmokers among first-year students (85%), while among the fourth-year students it is 73%. The proportion of first-year students who smoke is not significantly different from the proportion of fourth-year students who smoke (Chi-Square 1,334; p>0,05). It is necessary to insist on the adoption of healthy lifestyles among students who are on the path of maturity and responsibility for themselves and for the community.
