【 摘 要 】

This paper illuminates some of the gendered challenges raised by the new ways of thinking social protection in the region. To discuss this, it studies the Conditional Cash Transfers (CCTs) developed in Chile. Based on the example of the Puente programme - the entry point to the system of social protection Chile Solidario - the objective is to assess in which terms and conditions these strategies of social protection call for women’s participation in fighting poverty. Findings indicate that the continuity of policy in Chile’s anti-poverty strategies locates women as ‘being accountable for family well-being’ within a multidimensional and psychological vision of poverty. Chile constitutes a radical example of the extension of women’s individual responsibilities in managing household poverty with no collective component
