【 摘 要 】

In the struggle between Eros’ affirmation of life and its ensuing annihilation caused by Thanatos, the quest for immortality has always engaged men in the transcending of limits: from the fountain of youth to the modern scientific project of amortality. Nowadays, this struggle and this quest seem to lead to their success through anti-aging medicine, that has assumed the task of realizing this dream. Of its four major specializations, body performance, cognitive integrity, youth-like aesthetic appearance, digital hybridization, probably the effective maintenance of the sexual body, namely the everlasting prolongation of sexual life, through HRT (hormone replacement therapy) for women in menopause, shows how science is also involved in the conflict between life and death where Eros prevails over Thanatos. Three fields of analysis were chosen: an online forum of a community discussing about sex; the menopause area of a website of a recognized Italian gynaecologist; an interview with a gynaecologist involved in the treatment of disabling pathologies in women.
