【 摘 要 】

Based on a broad historiographic and statistical basis, this study contains a thorough analysis of both the demographic situation of Moldova since 1991 and an over view of the avatars of demographic research in Eastern Moldova at various historical stages: Tsarist Period, Interwar Period, Soviet Period and the Period of Independence.The carried out analysis shows that the organization of a Center for Demographic Studies with in the Institute of History of the ASM would effectively contribute to the settlement of the population problem in Moldova.
