【 摘 要 】

The article examines scientific library place among main organizational forms of realization of constitutional human and civil right to freedom of scientific work in Ukraine. Focuse is on new possibilities of libraries in tealities of information society, on benefits of libraries in competition with similar structures. It is noted that a key role in providing access to scientific knowledge among different types of libraries in Ukraine is played by academic libraries, in particular, libraries of research institutions of NAS of Ukraine, whose main task is to provide scientists with worldwide scientific information for their research on the basis of traditional and modern network technologies as timely and in full as possible. Activities of Vernadsky National Library on providing access to scientific knowledge are considered. It is concluded that high potential of Vernadsky National Library as Science Information Centre meets growing needs of scientific field in the context of today’s information revolution and knowledge society development.
