【 摘 要 】

This paper describes artisanal fisheries in Babitonga Bay, northern coast of Santa Catarina State, Brazil. Types of fisheries, practices of resouree exploration, characteristics of gear and transformations in the fisheries system are described. This research was strangly based on the local ecological knowledge of fishermen, obtaining data from interviews with local experts, as well as questionnaires applied to randomly selected fishermen.
