【 摘 要 】

Exalted across much of Latin America as a symbol of emancipation from the Spanish Empire, Simon Bolívar soon became an hero-worship which the first centennials of the American independences revitalized. The aim of this paper is to examine the memory of this hero relying on two great moments of the construction of the Bolivarian myth, during the interwar period: the centennial of the Amphictyonic Congress of 1826, celebrated in Panama in 1926, and the centennial of Bolívar’s death, celebrated in Venezuela, Colombia, Panama and Spain, in the midst of the crisis of 1930. Those two commemorations induced to give a sacred aura to the prócer’s memory and, paradoxically, to deprive him of his military glories, so as to transform him into a thinker of panhispanic solidarity. The two anniversaries will be analized as the bases of (trans)national memories and as places for expression of tensions and debates, when those nations were questioning their position regarding the US-led Panamericanism, an hypothetic Latin American «Bolivarianism» and the claim of Iberian Americanism advocated by General Primo de Rivera’s Spain.
