【 摘 要 】
Active precursor powders of MgO-ZrO2 composite system were prepared in threedifferent mole ratio by electrolytic interaction of inorganic salts inaqueous phase. Complete hydrolysis occurred at the critical instability pointof the system at pH 9. The amorphous precursor powders exhibited very highspecific surface area. The sintered properties of the composite system aredependent on mole ratio of MgO:ZrO2, sintering temperature and the rate ofcrystallization of constituent phases. The presence of periclase grains andcubic stabilized ZrO2 particles in the sintered body was confirmed by X-raydiffraction analysis while scanning electron micrographs indicated that MgOparticles occupy the inter-granular positions between ZrO2 polycrystals.
