【 摘 要 】

En Cuba, desde hace varias décadas, los accidentes ocupan un lugar importante entre las 10 primeras causas de muertes, lo que refuerza la necesidad de su atención. Se presenta una revisión del tema para la identificación seria de las causas principales que los provocan y sensibles de ser modificadas. Una de las causas de accidentes en los ancianos, es la imprudencia por ignorancia, por lo que nos propusimos identificar el nivel de conocimientos que, acerca del tema, poseen las personas de 60 años y más del municipio Regla, para lo cual se utilizó un cuestionario diseñado por expertos del Grupo Provincial de Accidentes de Ciudad de La Habana. Los resultados del trabajo reflejaron un conocimiento incompleto, o el desconocimiento en muchos casos. La creencia de la inevitabilidad de este fenómeno, el descuido y la imprudencia, son factores alarmantes a tener en cuenta, que evidentemente, aumentan el riesgo de sufrirlos.
For several decades in Cuba, the accidents occupy an important place among the first ten causes of death, which reinforces the need to focus the attention on it. A review of the topic for the serious identification of the main causes, which are sensitive to be modified, is presented. One of the causes of accidentes in the elderly is the imprudence originated by ignorance. This led us to identify the level of knowledge about the topic among the persons aged 60 and over in Regla municipality. A questionnaire designed by experts from the Provincial Group of Accidents of Havana City was used. The results showed the incomplete konwledge, or the lack of knowledge in many cases. The belief of the inevitability of this phenomenon, negligence and imprudence, are alarming factors that should be taken into account, and that evidently increase the risk for having accidents.
