【 摘 要 】

The Wild Turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) is distributed in Mexico in the north-east and the eastern slope of the Sierra Madre Oriental (states of Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Veracruz, San Luis Potosí) as well as in central-western Mexico north along the Sierra Madre Occidental (states of Jalisco, Zacatecas, Nayarit, Durango, Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Sonora). We report two records of the species from the Área de Protección de Flora y Fauna La Primavera (Jalisco). We obtained photographic records on May 12 and June 24, 2017, in pine (1580 masl) and oak-pine forests (1589 masl), 790 m apart from each other. These records are relevant as they confirm the permanence of the species within the reserve, as its presence had not been reported previous to 2014. Additionally, the closeness of these records to the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, makes its detection and periodic reporting important for conservation and management actions to promote its long-term permanence in the reserve.
