【 摘 要 】

The study assesses the relationship between exports and Brazilian agricultural productivity. In addition to verifying the difference between average exports and average agricultural productivity in Brazilian regions, the study uses the causality test proposed by Hurlin and Venet (2008) for the panel of Brazilian states from 2000 to 2015. The main result supports the temporal precedence of exports for agricultural productivity. This result was maintained when analyzing the regions in a disaggregated way, specifically Center-South and North-Northeast. Therefore, in addition to generating foreign exchange for the Brazilian economy, agricultural exports can possible to generate positive externalities in the production process.
