【 摘 要 】

The article describes the role of key business publications of the turn of the 1850-1860’s. social and economic transformations in Russia. Analyzed the controversy between them (“Economicheskii Ukazatel’” of V.I. Vernadsky and the “Vestnik Promyshlennosti” of F.V. Chizhov) and the publications of other nature (“Sovremennik” of N.A. Nekrasov, “Russkii Vestnik” A.I. Koshelev) on a number of critical issues. The key themes that have been covered in the business pages of periodicals include the peasant question (the controversy on the community device, the elimination of forced labour, the creation of a market for wage labor), free trade or protectionist policies, the construction of Railways (foreign experience (Austria, England, France, Belgium, the United North American States), the imperfection of Russian Railways).
