École et ethnicité en France : pour une approche systémique contextualisée

【 摘 要 】

The paper starts from a French paradox concerning schooling of postcolonial immigrants’ children. Statistical studies do not find disparities against them in basic education, when one considers trajectories, final tests passing, or punishments, while qualitative literature often suggests the opposite. The paper reviews recent works on this issue, be they published or not, within a systemic contextualized framing. It discusses in particular shifting othering processes in pedagogical relationships and ethnicized ruling of the school system (the school market issue is revisited). Finally it returns to the statistical approach of ethnic institutional discrimination, and states that actually it is gendered: boys from postcolonial flows appear to be typically disadvantaged while peer girls are symmetrically rather advantaged.
