【 摘 要 】

This article explores the possible combi-nations for the political configuration of access to justice in contemporary societies. Taking as its starting point the mutations in the socio-political significance of this form of access within the modern state, it refers to the concrete case of the consolidation of the legal aid system in São Paulo as a means of exploring the social struggles and political conflicts underlying decisions on current public policies for access to justice.
