【 摘 要 】

The central aim of the present study is to stress and explore the role of metaphor in the constitu­tion of grammatical constructions. The theoretical discussion here developed has as its basis the constructionist paradigm (use-based models of Construction Grammar - GOLDBERG, 1995, 2006; CROFT & CRUSE, 2004; LANGACKER, 1999, 2007; SALOMÃO, 2006, 2007) and seeks endorsement in a case study on the superlative negative constructions of NPIs in Portuguese language.
