【 摘 要 】

The analysis of the immediate present should arouse the interest of professional historians as witnesses of their time. Their capacity for historical foresight generated by events such as those of 11 September ought to go beyond the immediate ‘chronicle’ and aspire instead to a more ‘reflective’ history. The events of 11 September should therefore be seen as part of a wider process, and as a catalyst accelerating trends which had already begun. | El análisis del presente inmediato debe suscitar el interés del historiador profesional como testigo de su época. Su capacidad de previsión histórica a partir de acontecimientos como los sucedidos el 11 de septiembre debe superar la «historiacrónica » en beneficio de la «larga duración». El 11 de septiembre se inserta así en un proceso más amplio, acelerando tendencias en marcha.
