【 摘 要 】

Abstract This learning module features three cases that outline an approach to adolescent medicine for medical students. The cases review and outline common medical problems that arise in this population and provide the student with a general approach to them. The key issues that are touched upon in the cases are eating disorders (anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa), contraception, and diabetes mellitus. In addition, this learning module contains a podcast outlining an approach to obtaining a proper adolescent history as well as tips on how to ask difficult questions. This resource is a part of PedsCases, a comprehensive web-based educational series that focuses on the core objectives of undergraduate pediatric education with extensive student involvement. PedsCases was created for and by medical students and provides an opportunity for active self-directed learning in pediatrics. The learning modalities available include questions, flash card–type quizzes, multistep clinical cases, and podcasts. PedsCases has been integrated into the third-year undergraduate pediatric medical education curriculum at the University of Alberta. It is one of the top five references returned by various internet search engines for the term pediatric cases for medical students. PedsCases is also listed as a recommended resource at the Canadian Healthcare Education Commons, the Pediatric Critical Care Library, and the Lincoln Memorial University Library website.
