【 摘 要 】

Both the Shakespeare’s Sonnets (1609) and Barthes’s Fragments d’un discours amoureux (1977) are referred in the first place to the prevailing subjective structure of Modernity, named after Lacan and Barthes himself as the “subject of desire’s structure”. In a second part, discourses of love since Dante to Joyce are reviewed in order to understand the reach of that powerful structure to which the modern subject answers and which justifies the previous, claimed relation between Shakespeare and Barthes. Thirdly, Barthes’s and Shakespeare’s works are put together as two of the most conspicuous tokens of love’s discourse in Modernity. The last concern of the paper, partly inspired in recent intuitions by Italian philosopher Giorgio Agamben, is devoted to consider the possibility of the emergence of a different kind of subjective structure, as the origin of new ways of speaking about love and death.
